North Rhine-Westphalia - Benelux: a special relationship
Belgium, the Netherlands & Luxembourg (Benelux) are North Rhine-Westphalia's largest trading partners in total. There are diverse, intense economic relations. The regional proximity and high standards on both sides as well as in some cases complementary specialisations open up attractive supply and cooperation opportunities. In 2018, deliveries from the Benelux countries amounted to over 1.3 billion euros (mechanical engineering) to NRW and 5.3 billion euros to Germany as a whole. With over 2.3 billion euros, Benelux is a very important export market for North Rhine-Westphalia's mechanical engineering sector. The mechanical engineering export volume to Benelux from Germany even exceeded 13.8 billion euros in 2018.
The Benelux Networking Day offers participants the opportunity to get to know entrepreneurs and networks from Benelux and North Rhine-Westphalia, to make (new) contacts and to network. After a relaxed reception with coffee and sandwiches, the participants are welcomed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy. The Guided Tours lead to the trade fair highlights and offer insights into current issues and technologies as well as their future. Afterwards, the B2B matchmaking in 'speed-dating style' offers excellent opportunities for individual dialogue.
