Quality area - Quality processes gaining steadily in perceived importance
The topic of quality is inseparably connected to industrial manufacturing. Only those who can supply their customers reliably and consistently with high-quality products will have a chance to survive in the market over the long term. So manufacturing companies must be in control of all parts of the quality process, from measurement, continuing with analysis of the data, up to process control and quality control. In the era of digital transformation, these categories are gaining steadily in perceived importance. Not least the measuring and testing technologies involved will become a supporting pillar here in many cases, without which smart and big data concepts, for example, could not be implemented.
At the same time, digitalisation is suitable for bringing process quality up to a completely new level overall. This means the Quality Area is not a self-enclosed area in itself, but rather an accompanying segment of the core area with diverse synergetic effects. Or, in other words: quality topics are indispensable as a foundation for high-quality industrial manufacturing processes from the core area of the METAV. The Quality Area provides customers with an overview of the entire bandwidth of measuring and testing technology, as well as QM and analysis systems.
Moreover, quality assurance is more than a technical topic. It plays a central role in the organisation of processes and corporate structures. Accordingly, the METAV 2018 has acquired the DGQ and the DQS (German Association for Quality and German Society for Certification of Management Systems) as partners. They are offering a workshop on quality management at the fair.
Other partners for the Quality Area are the Measuring and Testing Technology Association and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University.
