Boron-free coolants from OemetaThe development and sale of boron-free metalworking lubricants has a long tradition at Oemeta. In 1993, the company launched the first modern, boron-free water-miscible coolant. The product’s advantage – both then and now – is its improved residue characteristic that enables cleaner parts, tools and machines. Oemeta boron-free products – for example, ALUMET® AL 900 – are now established, and have set industry standards everywhere. ‘Boron-free’ is a hot topic right now because the latest EU laws state that boric acid has to be treated as a substance of high concern. Since boric acid was categorised as toxic to reproduction and added to the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern, ever more users have decided to replace their boric products with boron-free substitutes. Oemeta provides a wide range of boron-free metalworking lubricants that almost covers the entire spectrum of applications.NOVAMET® 910 – an innovation in the area of boron-free metalworking lubricants Oemeta offers an innovative boron-free, water-miscible metalworking lubricant that is also free of formaldehyde-based bactericides: NOVAMET® 910. Its special formula makes the product just as robust as comparable, conventional water-miscible coolants. When used as intended and with the proper care, it eliminates the need for additional microbicides – even during operation. This new product line improves occupational safety significantly, particularly in production areas where employees come into direct contact with metalworking lubricants. NOVAMET® from Oemeta means products with outstanding properties and the highest performance results. With NOVAMET® 910, Oemeta remains uncompromising in terms of product performance. The product is suitable for an unusually wide range of applications. Due to its excellent lubricating performance, it can be used in demanding machining processes on aluminium alloys, steel and cast iron – in addition to standard chipping operations. NOVAMET® 910 has high material compatibility, which also makes it suitable for machining non-ferrous metal. Its excellent run-off characteristics effectively reduce discharge via chipping and workpieces from the coolant system. It delivers exceptional overall efficiency and low consumption at the same time. CLEANER 600 BF – a recyclable cleaner In line with its boron-free coolants, Oemeta has developed CLEANER 600 BF cleaning agent for intermediate parts cleaning. This product is completely compatible with all Oemeta metalworking lubricant emulsions. True to the principle of sustainability, Oemeta recycles its process fluids. Used lubricants and cleaning agents do not necessarily have to be disposed of at high cost – they can be used for other processes. Normally, the washing solutions used for intermediate cleaning become saturated over time by the entry of metalworking lubricant and have to be replaced. When used washing solution is fed back into the coolant circuit, disposal costs are dramatically reduced. In addition, this process reduces metalworking lubricant replenishment on the supply side. This is not true of conventional, alkaline cleaning agents since essential properties of the metalworking lubricant – its foaming characteristics, for example – may change for the worse. In the worst case, the entry of foreign substances may even lead to emulsion separation. The emulsion-compatible CLEANER 600 BF cleaning agent features outstanding rinsing and wetting characteristics that enable it to achieve optimal cleaning results. Its low-foaming formula also makes this cleaning agent suitable for high-pressure applications. A thin, dry film of CLEANER 600 BF provides parts with secure corrosion protection. Oemeta technical consultants are always there to provide input and assistance if you require an analysis of the options for application.
