A new peelable material has just been released: DUOPEEL®.

DUOPEEL is a peel-off material, designed and patented by Yann Gastel.

This bilaminate composite material allows the different hand peelable layers to be easily differentiated. One of the two materials has received a very thin covering layer of aluminum giving it a metallic appearance.

This makes it easy to identify the different peelable parts of your finished product. You can peel the appropriate side off to obtain the desired shim thickness.

Among the benefits that DUOPEEL offers, include: easy identification of the different peelable parts, lightness, adaptable to curved shapes, ease and speed of use, usage safety, economy (reusable peeled sheets as cushioning elements), good physical, mechanical and thermal characteristics.

A composite material: 2x as sturdy & 2x as light as Aluminum

INTERCOMPOSITE is a unique LAMECO material, designed and patented by Daniel GASTEL, made of a polyethylene glycol terephthalate film obtained by a slit-die extrusion process, followed by a double-drawing.

Advantages of INTERCOMPOSITE® laminated shims

Lightness
As an answer to a weight saving requirement. INTERCOMPOSITE® is one of the lightest of laminated materials.

Good physical, mechanical, thermal and chemical characteristics
INTERCOMPOSITE® is twice as light as Aluminum, but with equivalent thermal resistance. See the tables of characteristics here below.

Anti-fretting
INTERCOMPOSITE® is a total barrier against the galvanic coupling caused by surface contact of different metallic alloys. No further surface treatment is required.

Adaptation to curved shapes
INTERCOMPOSITE® has the property to immediately adapt itself to most curves profiles without any loss of precision. And this can be performed in site.

Facility and rapidity of use

LAMECO is the first to incorporate an electronic identifier inside the laminated shim, allowing it to communicate.Principle: a chip is inserted within the shim's layers. Next, the chip is encoded with the shim's identity. From that moment on, the information contained in the chip can be deciphered by a hand-held reader.

Advantages of Qar.X DATA-SHIM® Laminated Shims

Security

  • The electronic identifier is not rewritable: information regarding the Qar.X.DATA-SHIM®* cannot be falsified.
  • It is physically inviolable: any attempt to extract the chip will cause it toself-destruct.
  • It solves the problem inherent in stamp-marking: the shim's identification disappears with it's top layer, as many leaves as desired may be peeled, without risking the loss of their identifying data.
  • The electronic identifier provides protection against conflict with other chips that could be present in the system.

 

Flexibility
The electronic dentifier can be remote-read:

  • when the Qar.X DATA-SHIM®* is installed.
  • when the equipment in which it is located is in service.

 

Simplification
Assembly as well as maintenance are simplified. As a matter of fact, a general reader makes it possibles to identify all Qar.X DATA-SHIM®* present in a unit of equipement. Thus, one ascertains that:

  • the correct number of LAMECO shims is installed;
  • each one of these is properly placed;
  • the list of parts to be ordered is accurate and complete.

 

Universality
The electronic identifier can be manufactured within not only LAMECO composite material shims (INTERCOMPOSITE®, X.FIBER®), but also all those consisting of conventional metal laminations.

Traceability & Paperless Documentation
If you wish, in addition to each part's identity, we are able to record on the chip its entire traceability. Paperless documentation, such as the Delivery Order, Inspection Report, Certificate of conformity, becomes a reality.
Thus, inspection, acceptance, storage operations are made easier, and any danger of documents loss is averted.

Any mechanical assembly in working order generates vibrations that are source of harmful frequencies.

Finding a solution to this critical drawback,Daniel GASTEL designed and patented a new laminated product called SILENTLINE®.

SILENTLINE® is a composite of metal and synthetic material, which has the key advantage of spreading the vibrational energy over a dramatically wider band (lower Q factor) - therefore dampening the transmission of potentially destructive harmful frequencies.

X.FIBER®* is a laminated material, designed and patented by Daniel GASTEL. This composite material comes in the form of woven fiber sheets, which can be manufactured in several different ways:

glass, carbon, aramide, ceramic fibers orany combination of two or more of these different fibers.

The sheets are held together by a heat-hardened resin, the resulting material delivers both very high technical performance and excellent peelability.

Advantages of X.Fiber® laminated shims

Lightness
When the demand is for lighter materials, X.FIBER®* proves itself by far one of the lightest of laminated materials (up to 6 times lighter than steel!).

Strength
Being both lighter and stronger it can be used to great advantage as a replacement for carbon and stainless steels.

Endurance
It is comparable with laminated metals, and can be used to replace INTERCOMPOSITE® in use at temperatures above 266°F (130°C).
Its mechanical properties remain unaffected by the rise in temperature.
