Oemeta successful worldwide with coolants

The lubrication specialist from Uetersen is extending its technological lead. The ‘Coolant Company’ focuses on customers and on serving the international market.

Small but smart! With a team of 90 at its Uetersen headquarters in northern Germany, this family company is stirring up the world market. ‘Our products and our knowledge about applications have made us the technological leader in the field of water-miscible cooling lubricants,’ says company boss Thomas Vester. Above all, the automotive industry has benefited from the tailor-made solutions produced by this German ideas laboratory.

Long tool life, high cutting speeds and clean surfaces – these are the metalworker’s main requirements. With Oemeta’s products, both tool and work pieces are well lubricated and cooled – which is why Oemeta is ‘The Coolant Company’. Single component cooling fluids are called ‘Coolants’ and are divided into the product families ALUMET®, ESTRAMET®, NOVAMET®, FRIGOMET® and UNIMET®.

Everywhere metal, glass or ceramic is industrially machined, Oemeta’s product range has proven unbeatable. The automotive industry in particular relies on solutions which are worked out in close cooperation with the specialists from Uetersen – including BMW, Daimler, Opel, Volkswagen and the manufacturer of cult British motorcycles, Triumph. Today, many German and European car makers manufacture engine and power train components with help from coolants from the north.

‘The innovation process is closely coupled with our customers’ requirements. This is how products and solutions arise which often turn out to set groundbreaking standards for the industry,’ explains Thomas Vester, who is in the third generation to manage this 95-year-old family business. ‘Our inventions such as the two-component metalworking fluid HYCUT® or the multifunctional oil improve production processes and demonstrably cut costs.’ The HYCUT® system from Uetersen is used in a wide variety of manufacturing processes such as honing, drilling, tapping, milling and turning.

The development and sale of boron-free products also have a long tradition at Oemeta, and they have been enjoying increasing demand since it became mandatory to label boric acid. It was in 1993 that the first boron-free product was presented, and in the meantime, Oemeta’s boron-free products, such as ALUMET® AL 900, have become established throughout the industry and have set standards.

With branch offices in China, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Poland, Singapore and India plus distributors in more than 30 countries over four continents, Oemeta has a solid international presence.

Oemeta is certified to DIN ISO 9001:2008 (quality management), DIN EN ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management) and is the first chemical company in Schleswig-Holstein to be awarded the German employer’s liability insurance association quality seal ‘Sicher mit System’ (safe with system).
