Special Events

The METAV continually is picking up topics under discussion in the industry. At METAV 2012, a whole series of events will be offering trade visitors additional information as background to what the exhibitors are showcasing. On view there are: a modern process chain for the manufacture of medical parts, innovations for the efficient processing of fibre composite materials, and presentations by the various clusters in North Rhine-Westphalia. This top-class fringe programme is rounded off by fascinating lectures and expert forums.

METAV Technology Forum “Sustainable Metal-Cutting Processes”
Industrial metal-cutting processes have to meet a broad spectrum of disparate requirements. Productivity levels can be upgraded by means of cutting materials, geometries and coatings that are responsively matched to the duty profile and machining job involved. Improvements are determined both by the user and by the increasingly complex interaction between the machine and the tool.

The METAV Technology Forum “Sustainable Metal-Cutting Processes” adduces current examples to demonstrate how to master the complex influencing factors involved in optimising a metal-cutting production process. On two half-days, the focus will be on “Borehole machining from macro to micro” and “Hard-fine machining/high-precision machining”. Experts from the machine tool and tool-making sectors will be showcasing their solutions. The Technology Forum is being organised by the GFE (the German Society for Production Technology and Development in Schmalkalden) and by the Specialized Section Precision Tools within the VDMA.
